About Awesome T-Shirts
Why Do People Wear Certain T-Shirts?
Mark Twain said, “Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society.” This quote is so true, as our society has become one that uses clothing and apparel as a means to show one’s social status. Just go through all the contents of a woman’s fashion mag to read awesome coverage of fashion statements that are now being made on the runways of Paris, Milan, and The Big Apple. Hear the gaggles of high school girls going on about the “must have” fashion accessories of last year as “that is so last year ago.” Even the guys aren’t use to the claims made by a fashion person in particularly those fashion people who were once those of hip hop culture.
If men and women use clothing to state their social status, they also do so for self-expression. A fictitious fashion writer in “The Devil Wears Prada” has always worn a nice scarf. Donald Trump is also known for wearing some very nice ties and Woody Harrelson is mostly known to rock hemp products.
Starting in the 60’s, awesome tees became a way for people to express themselves. Back then however, plain white shirts had been transformed into tie-dye art which proclaimed the statement “flower power” and urging people to, “Make love, not war.” Soon, the messages began showing up on the t-shirts that were using silk screen or screen printing. Bands started selling brand t-shirts to their fans base at events, and then the young people began rocking band shirts as to express their personal identity.
But the past few years, graphic t-shirts have also been used to promote brands. Whether the brand “Gap” is placed on the front of a shirt or a picture of a favorite cartoon character, t-shirts have become a means to market products and brands.
This kind of branding awareness may have started at a corporate level, but has now become personal. From the very beginning of the tie dye and peace symbol era, t-shirts have now grew into a very big trend were people wear their beliefs, philosophy, and senses of comedy on what are called “graphic t-shirts.” Graphic t-shirts can also range from funny shirt and awesome shirts to event shirts and even explicit shirts. Indeed, graphic t-shirts are now the standard for college students, those who have a thing for speaking their minds, and those also those who consider being an outcast. During times of political debates, hilarious t-shirts have also taken the place of vehicle bumper stickers. The bold and brave who wear these shirts makes it evident that people want others to see.
Other people think that graphic t-shirts fall into a class of “rude clothing,” while many others consider it to be a form of freedom of speech. Yes, instead of wearing that heart of yours on your sleeve, you can now officially rock your political and spiritual believes and also your sense of humor and outrage on your chest.
There is really no doubt that awesome t-shirts, cool tees, party shirts, and even rude clothing are officially the form of self-expression. Now, once again, Mark Twain was definitely accurate!
